Year 6 School Games Day

It’s that time of year again when our year 6’s are tasked with the planning and management of our School Games Day.

It not only tests their leadership skills but also allows the rest of the school to participate and enjoy a variety of sports that form a part of the Telford & Wrekin School Games.  This is also a requirement of the School Games Gold Sports Award.

Our four house teams were spilt into KS1 and KS2 groups before heading off with their respective year 6 leaders to enjoy some archery, Jamaican cricket/kwik cricket, football and dodgeball.

The scores for each match or round were then collated and verified again by a group of year 6s. The winning house will be announced before the end of term….sorry to keep you in suspense.

A huge well done to our year 6 team for their efforts today and to the rest of the school who demonstrated great team work and sportsmanship!

Primary County Finals – New Age Kurling Team

On Tuesday four of our year six pupils represented Tibberton Primary School at the Primary County Finals competing in the New Age Kurling tournament. They qualified for the final earlier this year, which was an amazing achievement in itself.

They then went on to finish in eighth place out of eleven other schools! As ever, their behaviour was impeccable and sportsmanship, tremendous. So much so, together with the other schools in the Burton Borough School Games area team, won the “Spirit of the Games Award”.

To gain the award, all teams at each event voted for the area team that had shown some or all of these values, determination, teamwork, honesty, respect and self-belief. All the votes were then added together for the overall winner.

Our team even managed to get a photo with Danielle Brown MBE, Paralympic gold medalist (archery), which finished the day off very nicely.

Great team work Tibberton.

Telford & Wrekin Primary Schools Swimming Gala Results

Earlier this week Mrs Gregory and Mrs Booth accompanied some of our year 6 swimmers (and a year 5 girl) to the Telford & Wrekin Primary Schools Swimming Gala.

As ever, Tibberton behaved and performed impeccably, supporting their team mates and their peers competing from other schools. Mrs Gregory reported that our team showed tremendous determination and sportsmanship throughout the event.

Consistent individual races resulted in Tibberton Primary School team coming third overall out of thirteen schools. A fantastic result! Here are our swimmers celebrating their success and their bronze medals in Superstars Assembly on Monday this week.

Well done to everyone who took part and for all of the support received from families and friends.

Please refer to the table of results below for more information.

Year 5 Photography Competition

Many thanks to the children who have already selected their Chetwynd Deer park photo and emailed it to me. You have taken some really fabulous photos.

Please can remaining photographs be sent to me by the end of next week (Friday 7th June) so I can get them prepared for judging.

Look forward to seeing the remaining photos.

Lunch Time Activity of the Week

During lunch times this week, the children have had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the 6 different personal challenges they are set to face in P.E. after half term.

The athletic based circuit has challenged but not defeated our enthusiastic athletes. You may recognise a few having a go and improving their own times, repetitions and precision on each station.

We look forward to watching the children progress and improve over the last half term of the school year.
