Stone Age Fitness Circuit – Survival of the Fittest!

Calling Classes 3, 4 and 5!  Here is your PE challenge for the New Year. Are you brave enough to take on cave bears, create your own shelter and evade man eating predators of the Stone Age?  If so, read on….

We may not be able to run with our scheduled Stone Age dance module this half term, but it’s not going to stop us keeping fit and healthy.  Below is the description of the fitness circuit.  Once you’ve familiarised yourself and read through, simply press play on your personalised instructional video.

7 stations – 45-60 seconds per exercise – repeat whole circuit 2-3 times.

STATION 1
Hunter Gatherers – gathering wood to make a fire/plants and roots for food.
Wide leg standing lunges (to touch toes or transfer object form one side to the other and back again).

STATION 2
Hunter Becomes the Hunted – climbing trees to avoid being eaten by a cave hyena.
Step ups (on and off a step/step at bottom of the stairs)

STATION 3
Creating a shelter – resting under trees, rocks and in caves – man also begun to build small temporary shelters made from stone and grass roofs.
Plank hold (on elbows or with arms fully extended in front support position for 45-60 seconds).

STATION 4
Predators – becoming a cave bear rising high onto tip toes, arms high then dropping low.
Calf Raise into squat/crouch position (hands to touch the floor when in low position)

STATION 5
The Wheels Keep on Turning – inventing the wheel was so important to the Stone Age man. Before the wheel, Man travelled by foot; he could now build ploughs and carts to help pull goods and tend the field.
Shoulder and abdominal circles (holding a water bottle with arms outstretched at shoulder height; circle x 10 one way and then the other for 45-60 seconds).

STATION 6
Repeat leg circles lying on your back, hands flat underneath hips for support; legs outstretched and together, circle feet one way and then the other.

STATION 7
Survival of the Fittest – in order to stay alive in the Stone Age, you had to be faster than the predator that was chasing you.
Shuttle runs (Short and long sprints in your garden or on the spot for 1 minute.  Fast then slow to mimic running away, resting and then running again.

Class 3 and 4 ELSA Isolation Diary

Here is an ELSA activity for your children to complete in isolation from the ELSA Support Team.

This isolation diary booklet for children will help nurture wellbeing as they stay at home for 14 days to isolate.

There are 10 daily challenges but these don’t take long to do. It is a matter of doing a bit of colouring, writing a word or number. If they can’t do them all then that is fine but the more they do the more likely they will be fully occupied on nurturing their wellbeing.

Class 3 and 4 PE Personal Challenge

To all Class  3 and 4 pupils,

As you are all aware, we are due to start our Personal Challenge lessons from this week.  We may not be in school but you are still able to start practising and recording your results.

I have attached all of the Personal Challenge documents that you will need to get going.  Practise as much as you like, but only record your achievements once a week (this week and next week).  Please click the links below to access your;
