Class 2 got lost in Wally’s world for their WBD design!

Can you find any of the Class 2 children hiding with Wally?

Finding out about the lives of significant people in history.

Class 2 have been finding out about the lives of three ‘nurturing nurses’ – Mary Seacole, Florence Nightingale and Edith Cavell. In this lesson, we were creating physical freeze-frame timelines about significant events in their lives. We have also been sketching portraits of these significant people.  As part of their home learning, some children also found out about other ‘nurturing nurses.’ Please click on the image to see our artwork in greater detail.

Healthy Lifestyles Week: Hoola Nation

We had great fun making smoothies using the smoothie bikes and Hoola hooping. After this activity, we learnt about the importance of a healthy diet, which included trying out the sugar calculator and how to look after our teeth.

Bhangra dancing Workshop

As part of Healthy Lifestyles Week, Class 2 had a fabulous Bhangra dancing workshop today. We found out about the origins of Bhangra dancing and then we learnt some dance moves. Class 2 had a great time and can’t wait to do it again.

Art – Working with clay

Today, we transferred our designs onto clay. First we had to manipulate the clay to soften it so we could shape our tile. Then we selected our tools to complete our mark making. Some of us decided to simplify our designs and others followed their initial design ideas.
We can’t wait to add colour to our tiles next week. Fingers crossed the clay dries quickly.

Art: Exploring techniques Australian Indigenous Art

This activity started off as one of our 10 minute draws and then we continued our lesson linking it with our wider curriculum learning about Australia. Such concentration and attention to detail. We didn’t want to stop!

Coronation Crown making

We are continuing to find out about King Charles III and his coronation on May 6th. Today, we completed making our crowns, which we will wear at our school Coronation celebration on Friday afternoon.
Resilience, teamwork, creativity and fun were key words during our activities today.
