Y6 Bikeability

Thank you for returning the consent form for your child. ”Bikeability” is a national cycle training programme which is delivered by fully qualified instructors from the Telford & Wrekin Road Safety Department.

Areas covered include pedal positions and gears, safe start and stop, quick controlled stop, signalling, passing parked cars and junctions.

The sessions will be held on four consecutive Tuesdays –
5th February, 12th February, 26th February and 5th March

The pupils will be divided into two groups, with one group session in the morning, and another in the afternoon.

Each Tuesday morning the children need to bring their own bicycle, which must be in a roadworthy condition, and a properly fitting helmet – please see your checklist.

Would you also please ensure that they bring suitable outdoor clothing (waterproof if it’s wet, hat and gloves if it’s cold) and wear sensible shoes.

The ability to ride a bike safely on the road is a very important and valuable skill, and I am pleased that your child is taking part in the training.
