Dear Parents and Carers,
Last week the pupils enjoyed visits from the authors of their chosen texts through the fantastic Pop Up Reading Festival. Each author came armed with interesting activities for the children to try and ideas about their inspiration and passion for writing. I had the pleasure of taking two of the authors over to the station after their visits and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about their take on the visits. Both were very impressed with the children’s questions and level of interest and enthusiasm for their books; Jarvis also had some funny stories to tell from other schools he had visited!
As part of our week of celebrating reading, the children also tackled the challenge of the sponsored Readathon. They have done this with great enthusiasm and I believe, great support from home. Thank you for supporting them last week; both with the reading challenge and the sponsoring! The funds raised are all to support the cost of the author visits. Well done to the pupils.
That was last week; tonight we have our fantastic Summer Fair from 5-7pm at school. Don’t miss all the food, fun and activities or Tibberton’s Got Talent! A great evening out with guaranteed sunshine. Thank you to all the PTA team who have been working hard on the preparations for some weeks now. Great job.
So, on to next week when we have our Sports Day on Monday afternoon, 1st July from 1.30pm on the field. This year we have the new addition of the parent/carer refreshments area, run by the PTA. With the weather set to continue hot into next week I’m sure this will be most welcome.
The children will be well supplied with drinking water during the afternoon and seated in the shade to keep cool. Please don’t bring any additional refreshments over to the children during the sports afternoon – the children will enjoy an ice cream at the end of the afternoon supplied, as always, by the PTA team.
In addition, we will have Brian Clarke, the photographer from Kidz in Focus at the sports afternoon to capture the fun on film. Photographs will be available for purchase after the event.
Looking towards the end of term, Key Stage 2 pupils are learning their lines in preparation for our summer performance “Rock Bottom”. Look out for the dates and times and when tickets will be on sale- its going to be very good!
Not long to go now – but still lots of great things to pack in this term.
