Class 4 Summer Term PE

Class 4 have worked really hard all term during our PE lessons and have developed both their individual skills and ability to work within a team in various sports.

Sports have included; tennis (net and wall games), football (invasion games), rounders (striker fielder games) and a virtual interschools BOCCIA competition. We’ve even managed to squeeze in a Euros Fitness Bingo session and a Class 3/4 inter-house rounders tournament!

Great work Class 4!

All photos of the children in action can be found on their respective Seesaw page for you to enjoy.

Year 5 and 6 Rugby Competition

Earlier this week our year 5 and year 6 rugby teams went head to head in our very own rugby competition. Other schools from the Telford and Wrekin area were invited to take part but unfortunately couldn’t make it. It was down to team Tibberton to play it out in a head to head battle!

The game comprised of three periods lasting seven minutes and was refereed by Andy Protheroe (a PCSO Special Constable) who has had links with Tibberton and other schools for many years. He has also coached youth rugby for over 20 years. Mr Protheroe said in all his years of coaching, he has never witnessed such closely matched teams following the first seven minutes when the score stood at 0-0.

A further fourteen minutes were played and included numerous knock ons, nail biting possession ping-pong and awesome teamwork. With seconds to go, the score was 3-3 when year 6 took possession a few feet from the try line……and there it was 4-3 to the year 6 team!

An amazing morning of sportsmanship both on and off the pitch, with the rest of the class 4 and 5 pupils supporting from the sidelines. Mr Protheroe had provided all of the players with medals, a Man of the Match trophy and a Most Improved Player trophy. Lucas McCann stormed home with the Man of the Match award and Dylan Prigge the Most Improved player. Well done boys and to everyone who took part. A huge thank you to Mr Protheroe for his time, energy and ongoing support to our school.

Mrs Booth and Mrs Mather couldn’t believe the standard of rugby and cannot wait to see our Year 5’s do in the inter schools tournament next year!

I have uploaded some photos of the children competing onto Seesaw for you to enjoy.

KS2 Arrows Archery

On Tuesday 14th January a team of KS2 archers took part in the Telford and Wrekin Archery competition. There was some focus and determination amongst the team, whilst enduring a distance task followed by a target task. As they progressed through the competition, their accuracy improved. Out of 20 schools participating, our team managed a magnificent 4th which we were all very pleased with. This means that we will go through to the School Summer Games in July with our team representing the Burton Borough Partnership.

A fantastic achievement!

COJO mission 2 – Communication

Last Wednesday 5th February Class 1 and 2 tried the second Commando Joe mission all about communication. Charlie Communication needed us to get our teams across the river, but the teams had to help each other by giving accurate instructions. On the last crossing we even had to do it silently using only our bodies to signal what to do.

COJO mission 1 – Teamwork

On Wednesday 22nd January, Class 1 and 2 embarked on our first Commando Joe Mission all about Teamwork. The teams had to work together to collect specific items for their tub in order to help Tanisha Teamwork. The problem was that some of the items would break the bucket and so they had to work out which items they could take and which were causing the problem. It was very tricky!

KS1 Cricket Festival

On Friday 17th January, a group of Y2 pupils took part in the Telford and Wrekin Cricket Festival at Telford Tennis Centre. They learned how to play a game called Jamaican Street Cricket and were rather good at it. In fact, they won every game they played!

Well done on your success!
